Congratulations to Ngarino Ellis and Natalie Robertson on winning the art category with A Whakapapa of Tradition: One Hundred Years of Ngāti Porou Carving, 1830–1930 at the 2017 Ngā Kupu Ora Awards, and well done to all of our other finalists – Ngahiraka Mason and Zara Stanhope’s Gottfried Lindauer’s New Zealand, Jo Smith’s Māori Television, and Marama Muru-Lanning’s Tupuna Awa.

Our director Sam Elworthy, who was there on the night, said ‘The awards at Te Papa were a great night of te reo, song and stories celebrating the amazing strength of quality Māori publishing in New Zealand. It’s a privilege for Auckland University Press to play a part in that work.’
