Four AUP titles on Ngā Kupu Ora Māori Book Awards shortlist

We are thrilled that four of our titles have been shortlisted for the Ngā Kupu Ora Māori Book Awards. They are:

Tupuna Awa: People and Politics of the Waikato River by Marama Muru-Lanning (Non-fiction)

Māori Television: The First Ten Years by Jo Smith (Biography/History)

Gottfried Lindauer's New Zealand: The Māori Portraits, edited by Ngahiraka Mason and Zara Stanhope (Art)

A Whakapapa of Tradition: One Hundred Years of Ngāti Porou Carving, 1830–1930, by Ngarino Ellis, with new photography by Natalie Robertson (Art)

The Ngā Kupu Ora Awards were established by Massey University in 2009 to celebrate and encourage excellence in Māori literature and publishing. There are fifteen finalists in this year’s Māori book awards and winners will be announced at a ceremony at Te Papa in Wellington on Wednesday 8 November.
