Deborah Shepard

Life writer.


Deborah Shepard is the editor of Between the Lives: Partners in Art (AUP, 2005) and author of Her Life’s Work: Conversations with Five New Zealand Women and  Reframing Women: A History of New Zealand Film (2000). She has been writing about New Zealand film for nearly 20 years, has worked in art galleries and has written art-related columns for the popular press.

Since 2006, she has taught a Life Writing course for Continuing Education at The University of Auckland and is currently the consultant biographer for the Mercy Hospice in Auckland, helping to restructure the hospice’s Life Story services.
