Hazel Riseborough
Historian.
Hazel Riseborough was one of the first women to qualify as a wool classer in New Zealand. Since then, she has pursued advanced degrees in Māori Studies and History and taught at Massey University.
Riseborough is the author of Days of Darkness: Taranaki, 1878–1884. Her book Ngamatea (AUP, 2006) has been reprinted several times. She received a CLL Writer’s Award in 2008 to write her latest book, Shear Hard Work (AUP, 2010).
