Paula Green

Poet, reviewer, teacher based on Auckland’s west coast.


Paula Green is a writer who lives on Auckland’s west coast with her children and partner, Michael Hight.

She has published five solo collections of poetry with AUP, Slip Stream (2010), Making Lists for Frances Hodgkins (2007), Crosswind (2004), Chrome (2000)and Cookhouse (1998), as well as the collection she wrote with 50 children, Flamingo Bendalingo, for which Hight did the illustrations. She has also published a number of children’s books with Random House, most recently the sophisticated picture book Aunt Concertina and her Niece Evalina (2009).

Green edited Best New Zealand Poems in 2007, co-wrote 99 Ways into New Zealand Poetry, shortlisted for the 2011 New Zealand Book Awards, was a judge of the 2008 New Zealand Post Secondary School Poetry Competition and is the poetry reviewer for the New Zealand Herald.
