Auckland University Press poet Chris Price is the latest of a long list of prestigious New Zealand writers to have completed the coveted Katherine Mansfield residency in Menton, France. Join Chris as she reads from her work and talks about her experiences in Menton as the 2011 New Zealand Post Mansfield Prize recipient.
Free entry, but please note that seating is limited.
Multi-talented Chris Price is based in Wellington, where she teaches the poetry workshop at the International Institute of Modern Letters (VUW). Her first collection of poems,
Husk (AUP), won the NZSA Jessie Mackay Award for Best First Book of Poetry and made the New Zealand Top 10 bestseller list. Her next book, the genre-busting
Brief Lives (AUP), won a Spectrum Print Design Award and was shortlisted in the biography category in the 2007 Montana New Zealand Book Awards.
From 1992 to 2004, Price co-ordinated our major international literary event, New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week and she edited New Zealand’s longest-running literary magazine, Landfall, from 1993 to 2000. She was the 2008 CNZ/Auckland University Writer in residence at the Michael King Writers Centre and 2011 New Zealand Post Mansfield writer in residence in Menton.
